Drain work slow, sewage spills on to road, raises stink in Sector 85

Families in Orris Carnation have had to live with overflowing wastewater for years, but the Municipal Corporation of Manesar’s decision earlier this year to sanction a Rs 1.25 crore drain gave them hope that the problem won’t last long.

Work started sometime in June, already three months late, and it now appears to have come to a standstill, the residents said on Sunday.

After struggling and raising concerns on all possible platforms to get rid of dirty water on the road for years, we saw a ray of hope when work for the drain and sewer line finally started. But it is being carried out at snail’s pace and seems to have stopped midway now,” said Ashish Kumar Gupta, a resident of Sector 85 society.

Others said the construction work was going on without any supervision. “With water getting accumulated, it’s impossible to identify the dug-up area, which leads to frequent accidents. Moreover, the accumulated water and sludge is entering our society now and has made our lives hell,” said Satinder Bhatia, a resident of the society.
